The Tencan XQM-2 is a square-type vertical planetary ball mill designed for laboratories that require reproducible micron and sub-micron powder results in a compact bench footprint. A gear-transmission drive paired with a frequency converter keeps the revolving speed steady between 35 and 335 rpm and the planetary rotation speed between 70 and 670 rpm, letting researchers fine-tune the grinding energy for each material system.

With four grinding jars of 50-500 ml each (2 L total volume), the XQM-2 can prepare up to four independent samples in a single run - in identical or deliberately varied conditions - which shortens experiment cycles and improves data comparability. The 0.75 kW motor works with under-voltage and over-current protection, while the built-in timer (up to 9999 minutes) and automatic forward/reverse rotation reduce manual supervision and raise grinding efficiency.

Weighing 93 kg and measuring 750*470*564 mm, the unit keeps a low centre of gravity for stable, low-vibration running, and its noise level stays at or below 60 dB, making it suitable for shared laboratory environments. The mill is CE and ISO certified and is manufactured in Hunan, China.

The grinding jars rotate around a common sun-wheel axis (revolution) while spinning on their own axis (rotation). The two superimposed movements impart strong centrifugal and friction forces on the grinding balls, so the sample is repeatedly impacted and sheared against the jar wall. Because the jars run at high speed and every jar receives the same driving force, results are highly repeatable from run to run and from jar to jar.

Jars and grinding media can be matched to the sample to avoid cross-contamination and to protect material purity. Compatible jar materials include stainless steel, zirconia, alumina, agate, tungsten carbide, nylon, PU and PTFE, in volumes from 50 ml up to 3 L, with grinding-ball diameters from 1 mm to 50 mm depending on the material. Vacuum mill pots are also available for oxygen-sensitive powders.
